Advocating is another way of educating about gun violence. Successful advocating is based on the power of numbers. By taking action, we increase our individual voices, adding them to those of others who share our goals. When people see others standing up, showing up and speaking out about issues they also believe in, they feel validated and empowered to join in. Combining our voices when addressing elected officials is important because they generally pay attention when large numbers of people contact them.
