Judy Sherry

President

Judy was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia. She retired after 48+ years as an advertising and marketing professional.Her career included being a partner in Partner in both Montague-Sherry Advertising and Pepper Advertising, and president of Judy Sherry Consortium

As a long-time gun safety advocate, Judy co-founded Grandparents Against Gun Violence KS/MO in September 2013, and continues serving as its president. Through the years, their name has changed: first to Grandparents Against Gun Violence, and then Grandparents for Gun Safety. Among the recognitions she has received for her work on gun violence prevention and gun safety are the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, MainStream Coalition Stand Up Speak Out award, Shepherd’s Center 70 Over 70 award, recognizing 70 individuals from a variety of backgrounds who inspire others and improve our community, and honored by Charlies (Safety Demonstration) House in 2022 with its Excellence in Home Safety Award.

Past community activities include Board member of the Girl Scouts, Mid-Continent Council, Board member and vice-president of the Kansas City Ad Club; Advertising Professional of the Year in 1998, appointed to the Neighborhood and Tourist Development Fund and served as appointee to Mayor’s Citizen Task Force on Violence.

Donna Wald

Donna has served as the President of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence MA for the past four years and Vice President and Legislative Chair prior to her presidency. Since the early seventies she has been involved as an activist on environmental and social issues. Donna was born and raised in Vermont and is a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston, MA.She is a member of the League of Women Voters and is actively involved in advocating for candidates and legislation. A national award-winning direct marketer, she was the president of the Midwest Direct Marketing Association and built a thirty-year advertising and marketing career in Minneapolis as a Direct Marketing Manager working on Fortune 500, non-profit, high-tech start-up, and manufacturing accounts.She ended her career in Minneapolis as the Direct Marketing Manager of the Toro Company to retire on Cape Cod in 2005.
